Weekend

This is the first weekend with out extra people around and we are getting back into our new normal life. I took Beth to Chicago Ohare on wednesday so that she could go back home to Germany. This is a picture of her as she left.

On my way back to GR I stopped at the Hovings but no one was there. I did not tell them I was coming until I was in Chicago. They have a nice house and they don't need a door bell the dog does a nice job.

The weather has been rain for the weekend so I have done things in the house.

This last weekend we went to a Griffin's game with friends from church. It was fun to see the game and to do something different. They lost the game 2 to 1 and they did not play very good. It was College night so there was alot of young people there and it was cheap beer night and hot dog night. I did not have any beer.

Who is this person?

We had a real nice time this Christmas with everyone being able to be here. I had the week off between Christmas and New Year so we had to do some things around the house. Brian and I put more insulation in the attic one day. I can tell a difference in the house and on the roof. The snow is staying on the roof and no icicles. But here are a few pictures of Christmas.

These are some of the things that we did this summer. Went to the fair in Hudsonville and had dinner there and look at all of the farm aminals. The tractor is for Brian.

We had a new roof installed because the tree went through the roof. The company worked on it in the evening and took them most of the week.

When we took Brian and Beth to Detroit to go to Germany. We spent the rest of the weekend going through the two Ford houses. The Edsel and Eleanor Ford and the Henry Ford. We enjoyed going through the houses.

We had a storm come through in July that we called the 10 min. storm. We lost one of the trees in the back yard. We had the tree removed so the back yard looks bigger.

Things that we did this summer. We had a new front window installed and now all of the windows are newer to the house.

These are pictures of our Cadet camporee on May 1-2. Saturday was a nice day and we were able to get all of the games in. Then we made supper and had or night events. When we got up on Sunday it was raining and was not able to have a fire. When we went to church the rain had stopped and the sun did come out. We had to pack every thing up wet. The boys had fun and so did all of the dad's that went along.

This past weekend I walked in the Calvin 5k Spring Classic. I finished in 823 place out of 901 finishers. My time was 47:58 min what is my chip time. This is the time when I crossed the start line to when I crossed the finish line. There was over a thousand people that ran or walked in the race. It was fun to do and gave me a bench mark to work on over the next year to do it better next year.

Florida Vacation

My wife and I went to Florida for the first time ever over spring break. We went to Orlando to see friends that moved down there over three years ago. We left on a saturday and came back on friday we flew down. The part that I enjoyed the most was seeing the space shuttle Discovery lift off at 6:21 Monday morning and the big ball of fire and how it lit up the whole sky. The next day we took a tour of the Kennedy Space Center and was able to see things closer than the day before. The Apollo center was the best part for us because that is the part that we lived through and remember the best. We did go to the beach and was able to take a self tour of Ponce De Leon Inlet Light Station and walk up the 203 steps to the top and look out over the Atlantic Ocean. Then we went to the beach and walked in the ocean and found some shells. Yes we did see some gators and some other wild life. It was nice to sit in there spa in the evening and relax the pool was to cold.

The birds have been coming to the feeder.

I put out a bird feeder this week and this is the first animal that came.

We have had a very nice spring here and I wanted to share with you some of it. The first picture is from the front yard and the rest are from Calvin and the different kind of flowering trees that they have. Not many of you are here in the spring to see how nice the place looks. The truck pictures are there for fun. The guy that did it likes to do that kind of stuff. We have many things going on so I have to get back to them.
